Athletic Requirements

General

At Zama Middle High School, we emphasize the "student" in our student athletes. For athletic participation, certain academic and health eligibility requirements must be met before a student can begin practice or play. Eligibility is critical because the team will forfeit any games in which an ineligible player participates. Read the student handbook or contact the main office for more information about sports eligibility requirements.

Grade Standards

DoDEA Pacific's procedural guide titled "FEPPG" dated  September 12, 2018 which establishes policies for Far East Academic Programs, Interscholastic Athletic Programs, and Junior Reserve Officer Training Programs states in paragraph 3.1.6.6:

"To participate in academic, athletics, and JROTC activities, students must maintain a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA), with no more than one failing grade. All students that are enrolled in a DoDEA school are monitored weekly to verify that they are meeting this academic requirement. Grades are cumulative to date for the quarter. An ineligible student may not practice, try out for a sport, or participate in games or academic event preparation sessions during the period of ineligibility which extends to the next weekly academic check. Ineligible student-athletes will not be in uniform for games or travel with the team to games. They can sit in the spectator area but will not be affiliated with the team during the competition."

Student Code of Conduct

All student athletes and their parents must read, sign, and provide a completed Student Code of Conduct form to the Zama Middle High School Activities coordinator. Download the code of conduct form.

Sports Physical

A student must pass a pre-sport physical exam. A physical examination form signed by a physician and a parental release must be on file at the office before tryouts, practice, or competitions. For more information, see the school nurse. Download the sports physical form.
